BERTELSMANN told REUTERS (7/18) that the recent ruling by the EU Court that killed the 2004 approval of SONY BMG merger (NET NEWS 7/13) "would have no implications for the ongoing auction of its music publishing business" as a second round of bidding is underway.
Additionally, a BERTELSMANN spokesperson "declined to comment on a newspaper report that independent record labels, who successfully challenged the SONY BMG deal, plan to oppose the sale of the music publishing arm to one of the major music companies."
