ENTERCOM has flipped the FM translator half of Talk KJCE-A-K242CC/AUSTIN to Urban AC as "THE NEW 96.3 R&B." The new format, simulcasting an HD-3 channel, will feature the syndicated STEVE HARVEY show in mornings with SNOOP DANIEL hosting afternoons.
The AM side will remain Talk with a revamped lineup, dropping the syndicated WALTON AND JOHNSON in favor of a return for TRN's AMERICA'S MORNING NEWS and COURTSIDE's LAURA INGRAHAM moving up from 10a-1p (CT) to live clearance 8-11a. DIAL GLOBAL's DENNIS MILLER has been added back to the lineup for 11a-1p.
“ENTERCOM couldn’t be more excited to launch THE NEW 96.3 R&B here in AUSTIN. For years, the African-American community has been underserved by radio in this market, and 96.3 R&B will super serve this vital and growing community,” said ALAN KIRSHBOM, ENTERCOM AUSTIN Vice President and Market Manager. “We are launching 96.3 R&B to compete and win. STEVE HARVEY In the morning immediately gives our station credibility with listeners. His mass appeal will resonate not only with the African-American Community but bring in a wider audience over time.”
“I couldn’t be more excited to launch in AUSTIN, and I truly feel blessed to be a part of THE NEW 96.3 R&B lineup. A special thanks to my friends at ENTERCOM for their confidence in bringing ‘THE STEVE HARVEY MORNING SHOW’ to AUSTIN,” said HARVEY. “I look forward to waking up 96.3 R&B listeners every morning with inspiration and a whole lot of Funny!”
