RUBBER CITY RADIO Oldies-News-Talk WAKR-A/AKRON PD/midday host CHUCK COLLINS and his wife MONIKA visited WEDNESDAY's edition of the station's RAY HORNER SHOW to talk about the tumor removed from CHUCK's brain two weeks ago, reports OHIO MEDIA WATCH. COLLINS said that he plans to return to work on a limited schedule on AUGUST 19th.
"I started to get some very strange episodes that kind of mimicked stroke, but it wasn't," COLLINS said, according to ABC affiliate WEWS-TV/CLEVELAND. "The reason I know it wasn't is because I didn't get the asymmetrical vision thing, I didn't get speech slurring, I didn't get pain. A massive headache would be a part of stroke. Weakness on one side would be a sign of stroke."
An MRI revealed the tumor, and it was removed at SUMMA CITY HOSPITAL in AKRON. COLLINS plans a book about his experience to raise money for brain health awareness.
