More Rumors Fly About WMGC/Detroit Sports Flip

The drumbeat over GREATER MEDIA AC WMGC (TODAY'S 105.1)/DETROIT's pending flip to Sports continues with one source telling ALL ACCESS that the flip to ESPN 105.1 will happen on AUGUST 30th and studio banter before DREW LANE's podcast on WEDNESDAY (8/1) including a discussion of GREATER MEDIA/DETROIT Market Manager STEVE CHESSARE waiting on the final ESPN affiliation contract.
In the GOOGLE hangout video, which has been posted online, LANE says of the flip, "it'll happen It's, uh, you know, it's the worst-kept secret, I mean, I wish... don't even know... it makes sense just to announce it, get that over with." LANE, the former co-host of the long-running DREW AND MIKE show on sister Active Rock WRIF, is rumored to be hosting afternoons on the new format.
In response to a request for comment by ALL ACCESS about the flip talk andthe rumor reported by former WDFN-A, WXYT-A, and WKRK host GREGG HENSON that CAPITOL BROADCASTING Sports WCMC (9.9 THE FAN)/RALEIGH PD JASON DIXON has been hired to program the new format, the company responded, "GREATER MEDIA DETROIT has some of the most loyal listeners in radio.
