Group Plans Challenge To KDND License Over Fatal Contest

ENTERCOM Top 40 KDND (107.9 THE END)/SACRAMENTO is facing a license challenge by a group of "media watchdogs" that is calling for the FCC to "yank the license" of the station for the fatal "Hold Your Wee For A Wii" contest in JANUARY 2007.
MEDIA ACTION CENTER, which says that CALIFORNIA COMMON CAUSE is joining it in the fight along with another entity called the SACRAMENTO MEDIA GROUP, is the same group, headed by SUE WILSON, director of "BROADCAST BLUES," an anti-conservative talk radio film, which has filed petitions to deny the license renewal of conservative talk radio stations like JOURNAL Talk WTMJ-A and CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WISN-A/MILWAUKEE and CLEAR CHANNEL Talk WJNO-A/WEST PALM BEACH, alleging that the stations' airing of conservative talk constituted donation of free ad time to Republican candidates.
WILSON was also involved with the "Occupy CLEAR CHANNEL" protest of OCTOBER 2011.
A petition will be circulated in the SACRAMENTO area to oppose KDND's renewal and will be delivered to the FCC. Challenges to CALIFORNIA license renewal applications are due at the Commission by NOVEMBER 1st.
