SOMAR COMMUNICATIONS Classic Rock WMDM (97.7 THE ROCKET)/MECHANICSVILLE, MD afternoon personality RIPLEY is experiencing a renaissance of sorts.
The 55-year-old DJ is now nine years into his second career following more than a decade in law enforcement. RIPLEY had been a police sergeant in BALTIMORE. A WASHINGTON TIMES profile says RIPLEY faced a constant life and death struggle on his beat. Ultimately, he suffered career-ending wrist and arm injuries after 12 years on the job.
That led to a change in the professional path for RIPLEY, who attended a broadcasting school because people said he had a great voice for radio.
