The Cosmic Muffin Passes

DARRELL MARTINIE (aka THE COSMIC MUFFIN) passed away last night (7/26) after a battle with cancer at his home in SAUGUS, MA. A fixture in the field of astrology, MARTINIE was a member of THE BIG MATRESS morning show with CHARLES LAQUIDARA, which originated at CBS Alternative WBCN/BOSTON over 30 years ago and later across town at WZLX with his astrology reports in syndication.

Old friend and longtime colleague, ex-CBS VP Alternative Programming OEDIPUS told ALL ACCESS, "As the astrologer for WBCN (and eventually the Astrologer for the state of MA named by Governor BILL WELD), DARREL was one of the most effervescent and engaging personalities that one could know. His daily reports were a mainstay of the early and middle years of WBCN. I had the privilege and honor to not only work with the COSMIC MUFFIN but to marry DARREL and ED, his partner for 30 years (He asked me to become a JP for the day and to perform the ceremony when gay marriage became legal in our state).  DARRELL always made you laugh and welcomed every person that he met. His astrological reports always concluded with, `it’s a wise person who rules the stars, it’s a fool who’s ruled by them. Over and out.' Indeed!"
