Recording Academy To Honor The Beatles, Isley Brothers With Lifetime Achievement Awards

THE RECORDING ACADEMY will honor THE BEATLES and several other music icons with special awards during GRAMMY Week in JANUARY, the organization announced TODAY (12/12).
The Fab Four are among Lifetime Achievement Award recipients to be honored, along with Mexican balladeer and SOCIEDAD DE AUTORES Y COMPOSITORES President ARMANDO MANZANERO, Zydeco star CLIFTON CHENIER, THE ISLEY BROTHERS, KRAFTWERK, KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, and Classical violinist MAUD POWELL. MUSCLE SHOALS producer RICK HALL, photographer JIM MARSHALL, and iconic movie music composer ENNIO MORRICONE will be given Trustees Awards and audio technology pioneer EMILE BERLINER and electronics manufacturer LEXICON will win Technical GRAMMY Awards.
THE RECORDING ACADEMY President/CEO NEIL PORTNOW said, "It is a great privilege to recognize such an exceptional group of honorees and celebrate their accomplishments and contributions to the recording industry. This astoundingly unique and gifted group have created some of the most distinguished and influential work in our musical history. Their legacies are timeless and legendary, and their creativity will continue to influence and inspire future generations."
The awards will be bestowed at a special invitation-only ceremony during GRAMMY Week on JANUARY 25th, and a formal acknowledgment will be made during the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards telecast on CBS JANUARY 26th.
