January 6, 2014 at 9:54 AM (PT)
LIVIO RADIO Founder/CEO JAKE SIGAL, who remarked that he had just barely made it in to LAS VEGAS from frozen DETROIT, gave his annual talk at International CES Press Day MONDAY (1/6), the first since LIVIO's acquisition by FORD, and said that his company's focus will be Smart Device Link, LIVIO's open source app system that has also succeeded FORD's own AppLink app system. He said that a migration plan is in the works to "enhance" Smart Device Link with "the best of LIVIO Connect" and that the company plans "no developer left behind," meaning that all smartphone apps will be able to appear on the dashboard through the combined system. SIGAL announced an expanded partner lineup for Smart Device Link, including DELPHI, DENSO, HUMAX, KPIT, PIONEER, VOXX, JENSEN, and VISTEON.
SIGAL also announced a new concept "LIVIO Car Radio" offering consumer electronic device connectivity, connecting the vehicle with devices other than mobile phones, such as thermostats (being able to adjust one's home temperature via the car system) and "safe app connectivity."
