JACOBS MEDIA's TECHSURVEY10 -- which will have its debut at the upcoming WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT 2014 -- has now examined over 25,000 surveys from more than 160 radio stations -- and there’s still more surveys to go through. Nevertheless, some eye-opening trends are emerging that impacts radio stations in all formats.
The latest discovery concerns CHRISTMAS music and the massive impact it had this holiday season. The early numbers show that at least one in four of TS10 respondents said they devoted half of their radio listening or more to a station that played all-CHRISTMAS music this past DECEMBER. That’s a lot of TSL.
JACOBS MEDIA Pres. FRED JACOBS spotted something else in the data -- respondents buying a lot of "smart" media players "We’ve never asked about them before, but we’re seeing strong indicators that more than half of all our respondents say they have an Internet-enabled TV, DVD player, gaming console or separate box (ROKU, APPLE TV, etc.) that provides TV connectivity," he said. "No wonder the television industry is being disrupted left and right."
This -- as well as a lot of other -- data will be broken down by age, gender, generation, and format in time for the WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT. "We’re excited about the 'early returns' from TS10, and will have tons of great data about social, mobile, streaming and of course, why broadcast radio still matters," JACOBS said.
You'll get the first full look at the JACOBS MEDIA'S TECHSURVEY10 presentation at the 4th annual WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT at 12n on THURSDAY, APRIL 3rd at the HOLLYWOOD ROOSEVELT HOTEL.
