The FCC has proposed a $10,000 fine against OHANA MEDIA GROUP, LLC for tower lighting violations at a tower in ANCHORAGE, AK. The tower was observed with a non-functioning top-mounted white flashing light for daytime use.
The Commission also announced that with the publication in the Federal Register of notice of new rules to provide a single protection scheme for tower construction and modification near AM tower arrays and designate “moment method” computer modeling for determining whether a nearby tower affects an AM radiation pattern, the rules became effective on THURSDAY (2/20). In conjunction with the new rules, the Commission has unveiled AM Tower Tool, an online tool that determines if there are operating AM stations near a proposed new or modified tower.
