RADIO ONE Talk WCHB-A/DETROIT afternoon host and longtime DETROIT radio personality and DETROIT PISTONS public address announcer JOHN MASON is moving back to the FM dial as morning host at sister Urban AC WDMK (KISS 105.9) starting MONDAY (3/3). REACH MEDIA's TOM JOYNER will move from KISS to WCHB, with MILDRED GADDIS moving from mornings to afternoons. MASON was the morning man for many years at crosstown CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WJLB and then-INTERNATIONAL MASONS Urban AC WGPR before moving to WCHB in 2011.
MASON said, “I’m excited to be back on local morning radio in DETROIT, everything about DETROIT is big and I can’t wait to get started!”
VP/GM KATHY STINEHOUR added, “Our company sees a huge opportunity on the FM band given the recent changes made by the competition. MASON IN THE MORNING will soon be the only live and local morning show appealing to the urban audience. Detroiters love their own and we feel the new show will prove very successful."
GADDIS said, “One of the exciting things about the change taking place is it allows my audience to follow me and have more access to me. It also affords me the opportunity to create a new audience. As you know in radio impact drives listenership. We will continue to provide meaningful radio. I’m excited!”
