FCC Proposes Fine Against Texas FM

The FCC has proposed a $5,000 fine against BROOKS BROADCASTING CORP. for operating Country KPSO-F/FALFURRIAS, TX for less than the minimum daily requirements for FM stations without requesting a Silent STA.
The station said on its license renewal application that it was signing off at 7p (CT) every MONDAY through SATURDAY from JANUARY 16th, 2009 through DECEMBER 24th, 2012 and thought it "was permissible without prior authorization," learning that it wasn't only after starting to prepare the license renewal application. However, the Commission granted the license renewal despite the violations, which it declined to consider "serious."
