FCC Releases 4th Quarter Inquiries And Complaints Figures

The FCC's fourth quarter 2013 report of consumer inquiries and informal complaints showed 4,894 complaints about radio and television programming, mostly in the programming category (which the Commission defines as including topics like "Loud Commercials, Content Criticism, Violent TV, (and) Scheduling Change." 3,196 of the complaints were in that category, 2,029 in OCTOBER alone. Indecency and obscenity was well behind in third place with 336.
1,562 consumer inquiries about radio and television came in during the quarter, and, again, "Programming" generated the most (849), followed by Interference, Digital TV, Disability and Access, and EAS complaints.
By way of comparison, fourth quarter 2012 drew 2,271 inquiries and 5,544 complaints.
