The INDEPENDENT DISTRIBUTION COOPERATIVE (IDC) has entered into an agreement with ADA, the indie distribution and services arm of WARNER MUSIC GROUP (WMG), whereby ADA will continue to provide exclusive physical distribution services for releases from the label groups’ roster of artists to the major accounts, as well as select non-exclusive distribution services to other accounts.
IDC -- comprised of BEGGARS GROUP, DOMINO RECORDS, MERGE RECORDS, SADDLE CREEK and SECRETLY LABEL GROUP -- will continue to service independent physical accounts nonexclusively alongside ADA by using their pre-existing direct distribution systems (MATADOR DIRECT, SCD, MERGE, DOMINO and SADDLE CREEK). Each label group will handle all digital distribution directly or via other third parties, which may include ADA.
"All the members of IDC have had the good fortune over the years of growing with ADA, a successful and effective distribution partner," SECRETLY LABEL GROUP managing partner DARIUS VAN ARMAN said. "We are now happy to announce that, through IDC, we are choosing to continue that relationship with the one major label distribution partner who has consistently demonstrated a willingness to allow independent labels to maintain control over the distribution of their independent content. It is truly remarkable that ADA sees the strengthening of the independent music label community as an opportunity for all concerned.”
“ADA has a long and fruitful history with each IDC member," ADA WORLDWIDE Pres.MIKE JBARA said. "In addition to being such influential independent labels, they are business innovators. As music channels and consumer behaviors evolve, we look forward to many more years of success together.”
