KUJ's Reka Launches 'Reka's Power Kids' Clothing Drive

While speakinig to a class at an elementary school, INGSTAD Top 40 KUJ (POWER 99.1)/TRI-CITIES, WA morning co-host REKA noticed one student who was obviously in need of new clothing, and that became the impetus for "REKA'S POWER KIDS."
"I asked the teacher (who happens to be my cousin) if I was allowed to buy her some clothes," said REKA. "I was allowed and I made sure to buy her the cutest outfits, with headbands and bracelets because that's what every little girl should have!! I wanted to make sure that the young lady did not know or think it was because she was 'in need' so I told my cousin/teacher to just tell her she happened to be my favorite student that day! The very next day after she received the clothes, she wore one of the outfits and my cousin said she showed a confidence that she usually doesn't have."
REKA decided to launch a clothing drive at the VIRGIE ROBINSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, which happens to be named after her grandmother! The drive was a huge success, collecting many bags of clothing, as well as cash contributions. Check out the details here.
