WYPR Staff Votes To Unionize

The editorial staff at YOUR PUBLIC RADIO CORP. noncommercial News-Talk WYPR/BALTIMORE has voted to unionize, according to BALTIMORE CITY PAPER.
A statement from SAG-AFTRA said that an "overwhelming majority" of the WYPR staff had submitted a petition to ask management to voluntarily recognize SAG-AFTRA as their representative and that a petition was filed with the NLRB on FRIDAY (6/6).
Responding to that statement, WYPR VP/Programming ANDY BIENSTOCK issued his own statement saying that "we want to make sure that we proceed in a manner that takes into account what is best for all employees and the station. The law provides for a secret ballot election, and we believe this is the best way for our employees to exercise their rights.”
