Owner Resigns As GM In Continuing Drama At KFNS-A/St. Louis

The drama at GRAND SLAM SPORTS Sports KFNS-A (590 THE MAN) and Talk KXFN-A/ST. LOUIS continues with the resignation of owner DAN MARSHALL as GM in the wake of his recent fistfight with former morning host BRIAN MCKENNA (NET NEWS 6/9), reports the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH.
MARSHALL did not comment to the P-D about resigning, but OM MIKE CALVIN told the paper that MARSHALL "didn’t resign from being an investor.” In addition, midday host JAY RANDOLPH JR. has exited.
MCKENNA was arrested but was as of last THURSDAY yet to be charged in the incident, which was precipitated by comments by KXFM afternoon host TONY TRUPIANO ripping MCKENNA as seeking sympathy for a recent cancer diagnosis and calling KFNS host CHARLIE "TUNA" EDWARDS a "scumbag... token black guy" getting advertiser support for "that minority tax write-off," adding that he should die of "sickle-cell, cancer, whatever, I don't care."
He also suggested former KXFN host KEN "IGGY" STRODE should buy a gun and a bullet and have MCKENNA try to "talk him down from doing it," a reference to MCKENNA once talking a caller out of suicide. TRUPIANO told the paper that he was "just trying to have some fun" and that the comments were his style of comedy; he also allegedly used the "C-word" on the air during the show.
NBC SPORTS RADIO is airing in MCKENNA's place for now.
