COMMON FREQUENCY, INC./CASCADE EDUCATIONAL BROADCASTING SERVICE noncommercial eclectic Variety (progressive talk and local music) KXRY (XRAY.FM)/PORTLAND plans to add a second signal, taking over the signal of crosstown METROEAST COMMUNITY MEDIA local music KZME in a simulcast to help XRAY.FM reach more of the market, reports WILLAMETTE WEEK.
The move will take place this SUMMER; the board of XRAY.FM authorized its CEO to negotiate a simulcast deal last week.
KZME airs on ALL CLASSICAL PUBLIC MEDIA Classical KQAC and on analog translator K296FT/WEST HAVEN, OR; its original primary local FM signal went dark in 2011 after less than a year on the air and the license expired in 2012.
METROEAST COMMUNITY MEDIA CEO ROB BRADING told WILLAMETTE WEEK that contrary to initial reports, the deal has not been finalized, although he added that he "firmly believe(s) those negotiations will result in a positive outcome."
