The FCC has asked the public to comment on a proposal to terminate 953 pending proceedings to clear its backlog of cases. Comments will be due 30 days after publication in the Federal Register, with replies due 45 days after publication.
Among the proceedings being proposed for termination are the never-completed 1998 and 2002 biennial ownership rules reviews, a docket examining the newspaper-radio cross-ownership policy, and a 1991 docket about minority ownership. Many of the dockets marked for deletion involve cable television carriage disputes and telephone carrier ownership changes.
