Bill Drake, R.I.P.

Condolences to family and friends of DAVIDSON MEDIA GROUP Classic Hits-Brokered WOLI-A-W289BS (THE SOURCE @105.7 FM/910 AM)/SPARTANBURG, SC morning host BILL DRAKE, who died FRIDAY (7/11) of complications after surgery for esophageal cancer at 73, reports CBS affiliate WSPA-TV.

DRAKE hosted "AWAKE WITH DRAKE" for 38 years at WSPA-A.

Funeral services will be conducted TODAY at 1p at SPARTANBURG MEMORIAL AUDITORIUM at 385 N. Church St. by Rev. MICHAEL SHACKELFORD and the Rev. EMILY EDENFIELD. Private interment will be in GREENLAWN MEMORIAL GARDENS.

Memorials can be made to THE SOUP KITCHEN at 136 S. Forest St.; ST. JOHN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH at 415 S. Pine St., or a charity of choice.
