WESTWOOD ONE's "NOW WITH RYAN FOX" Host RYAN FOX accepted the "ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE" issued to him by CUMULUS Country KPLX and KSCS/DALLAS OM JR SCHUMANN.
The "ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE" requires the participant to douse themselves with buckets of ice water on video, posting that video to social media, and then nominating others to do the same. The challenge has become a popular initiative in an effort to raise awareness of AMYOTROPHIC LATERAL SCLEROSIS (ALS), often referred to as LOU GEHRIG’S DISEASE. Those who refuse to take the challenge are asked to make a donation to the ALS charity of their choice.
FOX did not hesitate when challenged. "It's all worth it to help raise awareness and battle this horrible disease," explained FOX. "I'm doing it in honor of ROXANNE GREEN. She is a wife and mother of four gorgeous little boys and is currently wheelchair bound from ALS."
FOX has now challenged "AFTER MIDNITE" Host CODY ALAN and "NASH NIGHTS LIVE WITH SHAWN PARR" Host SHAWN PARR to complete the challenge.
After being challenged by DUSTIN LYNCH, KEITH URBAN has also taken the "ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE" to raise awareness for ALS. URBAN completed the task and called out fellow musicians TIM MCGRAW, ERIC CHURCH, and JOHN MAYER.
According to the ALS ASSOCIATION, the "ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE" has raised over $4 million in donations since the challenge launched on JULY 29th.
