On MONDAY (9/8), CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP welcomed their radio, press, and music friends to the legendary studios of the CAPITOL RECORDS building in HOLLYWOOD for a preview of the forthcoming NEIL DIAMOND album, entitled "Melody Road" scheduled for release on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21st.
GRAMMY MUSEUM Exec. Dir. BOB SANTELLI conducted the interview with NEIL DIAMOND where they discussed how he got his start in the music business as a songwriter for the publishing firm started by JERRY LEIBER and MIKE STOLLER. DIAMOND also talked about his favorite guitar, his role in the movie "The Jazz Singer," and how his 96 year-old mother always has the final say on his recordings.
Although the songs were new, NEIL DIAMOND's distinctive voice was instantly recognizable. Producer DON WAS was also on hand to discuss the recording process with co-producer JACKNIFE LEE. Some of the songs that we sampled from "Melody Road" included a video of the title track, along with "The Art Of Love," "Something Blue," "(OOO) Do I Wanna Be Yours," and a song NEIL DIAMOND dedicated to his brother-in-law and his bride at their wedding entitled "Seongah And Jimmy."
In addition to DON WAS and BOB SANTELLI, some of the other VIPs in attendance included JOHN MAYER, KOST/LOS ANGELES PD MICHAEL LA CROSSE, KCSN/LOS ANGELES PD SKY DANIELS, BIG SHOES/SOUNDMIND's LINDE THURMAN, and ALL ACCESS' MARK STRICKLAND.
ALL ACCESS sends a big thank-you out to the staff of CAPITOL MUSIC GROUP, Chairman/CEO STEVE BARNETT, EVP GREG THOMPSON, EVP MICHELLE JUBELIRER, SVP Promotion DENNIS REESE, VP Adult Formats PATTY MORRIS, Sr. Dir.
