THIRTY TIGERS artist SUNNY SWEENEY used social media on SUNDAY (10/5) to reach out to an AMERICAN soldier in a big way.
SWEENEY was awaiting a connecting flight in LAS VEGAS during a cross-country day of travel when she saw a young soldier awaiting an outbound flight. What happened next brought tears to her eyes and brightened her long day.
A gentleman spotted the soldier and approached him to thank him for his service. He then asked the young man, who SWEENEY identified as MICHAEL based upon the name on his backpack, if he could pray with him for his safety. As the two men prayed together in the airport, SWEENEY snapped a photo and posted it to her FACEBOOK, sharing how the story inspired her and encouraged her.
"I would love for this picture to find its way to the man pictured here in uniform to show how many people are praying for you and wishing you good thoughts and safe travels," said SWEENEY in her post. Not only did it reach MICHAEL, but it reached millions of others, as well. When SWEENEY arrived at her destination in SPOKANE two hours later, her phone said she had 50,000 FACEBOOK notifications. The post went viral, with over 1,000,000 likes, over 500,000 shares, and nearly 50,000 comments.
