The Industry Loses A Legend As Dale Dorman Passes

RIP Dale Dorman

BOSTON radio legend DALE DORMAN has passed away after a long illness. He was 71.

"UNCLE DALE" was on the BOSTON airwaves since 1968, heard on WRKO-A, WXKS (KISS 108), and, finally, WODS, where he finished his career on weekends after a long run in mornings that ended in 2008; his television work included hosting at independent WLVI-TV.  He previously worked at KFRC-A/SAN FRANCISCO, KYNO-A/FRESNO, WOLF-A/SYRACUSE, and WCHN-A-F/NORWICH, NY.  He was inducted into the MASSACHUSETTS BROADCASTERS HALL OF FAME in 2010.

WCVB-TV reports, "DORMAN developed a taste for radio when growing up in HOMER, NEW YORK, where he used to hangout around stations near him," and added, "DORMAN came to BOSTON in 1968, working at WRKO for 10 years.  He worked at WXKS (KISS 108) for over 20 years and finished his career at WODS."

"DORMAN is one of those jocks who made it big in the RKO chain of stations back when personality really mattered. Once the morning show host at WRKO in it’s Top 40 heyday, DORMAN also spent time doing WEST COAST Top 40," KISS 108 wrote on its website.
