UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP Chairman LUCIAN GRAINGE spoke at the WSJDLive Global Technology Conference, and said, "he wants to see more evidence of a sustainable business model before partnering with digital-music startup SOUNDCLOUD," reports THE WALL STREET JOURNAL.
GRAINGE added there is an “opportunity for SOUNDCLOUD to create incredible revenue,” but he and SOUNDCLOUD would first have to discuss “what the business plan is going to be.”
GRAINGE, responding to questions about UMG possible partnership with YOUTUBE for a subscription music service, said “We’re very good partners with people where we’re aligned,” but, “I can’t comment on something that hasn’t been announced.”
