Contemporary Christian WMBI (90.1)/CHICAGO prepares to make history on FRIDAY, AUGUST 25 when the station broadcasts live from the maximum-security LOUISIANA STATE PENITENTIARY (LSP) in ANGOLA, LA, from 5-9a (CT).
ANGOLA is home to the nation’s first and only licensed prison radio station KLSP, which became an official affiliate of the MOODY BROADCASTING NETWORK (MBN) in 2003. Once known as “America’s bloodiest prison,” ANGOLA is now operating as its own community, providing rehabilitation programs as varied as a drama club, wood shop and Bible college programs.
The morning broadcast will follow the typical daily format for WMBI, consisting of news, sports, traffic and weather, but will feature stories from the team’s tour through the prison the previous day and various live interviews including an interview with WARDEN BURL CAIN.
Guests will include CAIN, MANNY MILL, Executive Director of KOINONIA HOUSE NATIONAL MINISTRIES, MIRIAM NEFF, wife of the late BOB NEFF, former VP of Broadcasting for MBN, Associate Director of WAYSIDE CROSS MINISTRIES JAMES LOKOSE, ILLINOIS State Representative RANDALL HULTGREN and RYAN KOEHL, Prosecutor for LAKE COUNTY State’s Attorney’s Office.
