CBS RADIO Classic Hits WRBQ (Q105)/TAMPA morning host MASON DIXON has put his MASON DIXON CHRISTMAS WISH FOUNDATION to good use by paying an elderly TAMPA woman who was the victim of a tax fraud. WFLA-TV reports that MARGUERITE WARDLAW recently discovered that someone had been filing a tax return in her name for the past four years -- and the IRS had garnished her Social Security check because they believed she was working and earning an income.
When WARDLAW informed them that she has been confined to a wheelchair for 15 years and is unable to work, the I.R.S. sent her a check -- that went to the person who committed the tax fraud. While this continues to be sorted out, DIXON and his wife PAT presented WARDLAW with a check to cover expenses.
