With the previously-announced retirement of SALEM RADIO NETWORK Pres. GREG ANDERSON, SALEM COMMUNICATIONS is upping DAVE SANTRELLA from Pres./Radio Division to Pres./Broadcast Media, including the network, SMR/VMR rep firm, and digital assets.
As the radio and network division operations merge, Radio Division VP. Dir. Spoken Word Formats PHIL BOYCE is being upped to SVP/SALEM RADIO NETWORK and Spoken Word Formats, adding oversight of the syndication service's programming while continuing local programming oversight in the NEW YORK market.
Also, ALLEN POWER and LINNAE YOUNG have been named SVPs of the radio operation, while TERRY FAHY will become Operational VP with responsibility for most SALEM stations west of PHOENIX. Operational VPs BRIAN TAYLOR, JOHN PEROYEA, DAVID RULEMAN and MIKE MORAN will add additional station responsibilities. MIKE REED and MIKE MILLER have been upped to SVPs, with REED adding duties at SRN's DALLAS operations and MILLER adding to his duties in the network's music space.
All of the changes will take effect on JANUARY 1st.
On SANTRELLA's promotion, CEO ED ATSINGER said, “Our network and radio divisions overlap in so many ways. A management consolidation should produce greater efficiencies and productivity. This is a case where the whole will be equal to more than the sum of its parts. Five years ago DAVE was promoted to President of the radio division. In that capacity he has brought creative leadership to the division absorbing new outlets and improving productivity and efficiency while recognizing that the media future is all about convergence of platforms. Consolidating our radio and network divisions is the logical next step in that convergence strategy and DAVE is perfectly positioned to lead this consolidated division.”
ATSINGER added, “There is no-one in AMERICA more qualified to bring value to the SALEM RADIO NETWORK than PHIL BOYCE. Anyone familiar with his background and resume will immediately agree. I am confident that under the leadership of DAVE and PHIL our Network assets will move to new heights building on the solid foundation made by GREG ANDERSON who built the network over a 23-year period.”
SANTRELLA added, “PHIL has proven to be a tremendous and versatile leader. He’s been an enormous help to our national ministries and an invaluable consultant to our talk network. Putting PHIL over our news and news talk network puts him in his sweet spot and I am thrilled to have him steering this important aspect of our broadcast business.”
“So many times companies seem to think the smartest people in the business are at other companies," SANTRELLA concluded. "It’s inspiring to see that SALEM recognizes the talent we already have on board as evidenced through these promotions.”
