Another revelation from those hacked SONY e-mails: It appears SONY PICTURES wanted to use MICHAEL JACKSON's likeness for its SUMMER 2015 3D ADAM SANDLELR movie, "Pixels," and were turned down by the handlers of the late supestar's estate, including JOHN BRANCA. This exclusive was reported by ROGER FRIEDMAN on his SHOWBIZ 411 blog.
The e-mails turned up in a batcjh found by musician VAL BROEKSMIT, who has been posing his findings on TWITTER, prompting SONY to vow to sue both the site and BROEKSMIT.
According to the e-mails, a production exec reached out to SONY’s AMY PASCAL for help persuading JACKSON estate lawyers BRANCA and KAREN LANGFORD in their desire to include JACKSON with a gallery of '80s icons including BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, MR. T, RONALD REAGAN and HALL & OATES.
LANGFORD reportedly said she'd consider letting them use JACKSON’s image for a fee were in the "high six figures," while the producer insisted the budget allowed for a maxiumum of $25,000, and the high request was the Estate's way of turning down the request.
