After more than 50 years of connecting folk artists and audiences on the radio, GENE SHAY is retiring. His final broadcast of “THE FOLK SHOW” – airing on UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA Triple A WXPN/PHILADELPHIA for the past 20 years -- will be on FEBRUARY 1st.
SHAY has been synonymous with the folk music scene, and even though he will be ending his radio show, it is expected he will still be very much involved with the music and artists he loves.
WXPN GM ROGER LAMAY said, “When I came to WXPN 12 years ago, one of the exciting parts for me was that GENE would be a colleague. Now I am proud to call him a friend. He’s not leaving folk music, just the radio. But he will always be part of the WXPN family.”
