BIG MACHINE LABEL GROUP (BMLG) CEO/Pres. SCOTT BORCHETTA will be honored with the MUSIC BUSINESS ASSOCIATION's (MUSIC BIZ) PRESIDENTIAL AWARD for Outstanding Executive Achievement. BORCHETTA will receive the prestigious award during the MUSIC BIZ 2015 awards luncheon on THURSDAY, MAY 14th.
Previous honorees include industry standouts CLIVE DAVIS, CASEY KASEM, DICK CLARK, the COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION (CMA), the RECORDING INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (RIAA), and many others. The award is given in recognition of outstanding vision, leadership, and commitment to the industry.
"Throughout his years in the music business, SCOTT has demonstrated a keen ear for talent that has led to more than 30 million albums sold by BIG MACHINE artists, not to mention #1 Country and Pop radio smashes (165 in all) in every year over the course of his career," explained MUSIC BIZ Pres. JAMES DONIO. "His drive for innovation has also led to BIG MACHINE's ground-breaking deal with terrestrial radio for performance royalty rights. We're thrilled to present him with this award and look forward to many more years of success for BIG MACHINE."
BORCHETTA may be best known for having founded BIG MACHINE in 2005, signing TAYLOR SWIFT as his first artist, and going on to help her make history with three consecutive million-plus-selling debuts for her albums. He has also expanded BMLG to include THE VALORY MUSIC CO, REPUBLIC NASHVILLE, DOT RECORDS, and NASH ICON, helping cultivate a strong artist roster that includes TIM MCGRAW, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE, THE BAND PERRY, RASCAL FLATTS, and REBA MCENTIRE. Prior to launching BIG MACHINE, BORCHETTA served as an executive with MCA RECORDS and DREAMWORKS RECORDS, helping guide the careers of GEORGE STRAIT, VINCE GILL, TRISHA YEARWOOD, and many more.
Additionally, BORCHETTA has been featured in numerous publications including FORBES, THE WALL STREET JOURNAL, and ROLLING STONE. He has appeared on "60 Minutes," CNBC, and NPR, and this year will serve as the in-house mentor for FOX-TV's "AMERICAN IDOL" (NET NEWS 12/3/14). BORCHETTA has been honored previously by the CMA and T.J. MARTELL FOUNDATION, and is a noted racing enthusiast and former driver, having won three consecutive NASCAR Super Truck Series championships at NASHVILLE's FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY.
MUSIC BIZ 2015 will be held in NASHVILLE with the awards luncheon taking place at the SHERATON NASHVILLE DOWNTOWN HOTEL. For more information or to sign up for the conference, visit the MUSIC BIZ website.
