CRTC OKs Power Boost For Ontario FM
January 19, 2015 at 4:33 AM (PT)
The CRTC has approved a power increase for BAYSHORE BROADCASTING CORP. AC CHGB (97,7 THE BEACH)/WASAGA BEACH, ON. The station will increase from 347 to 700 watts ERP and switch from directional to non-directional. An earlier application attempted to increase power to 75,000 watts at a greater height but was denied by the agency.
The Commission also revoked the license of low-power Religion VF8020/RIMBEY, AB at the request of licensee THE CHURCH OF NAZARENE OF RIMBEY, in order for the church to continue the operation without a license as an exempt low-power FM under the exception for programming from houses of worship.
And the agency has put out a call for comments on whether the BURLINGTON, ON market can support an additional FM in light of BYRNES COMMUNICATIONS INC.'s application for 88.5 FM with 350 watts ERP. The call for comments asks whether BURLINGTON, part of the HAMILTON census area, can handle an additional local FM and whether the agency should issue a call for applications for new stations in the market.
