The LOS ANGELES TIMES reports that LOS ANGELES DODGERS will have a father-son team in the Spanish-language radio booth this season, as JORGE JARRIN moves from the television side at SPORTSNET LA's Spanish DODGERS broadcasts to the radio booth to join his father, Hall of Fame play-by-play voice JAIME JARRIN, on UNIVISION Spanish Talk KTNQ-A/LOS ANGELES.
The younger JARRIN, known as "CAPTAIN JORGE" on traffic reports at KABC-A in 1985-2011, has been hosting "DODGER TALK" on English-language flagship iHEARTMEDIA/DODGERS Sports KLAC-A and overseeing sales for Spanish-language DODGER radio broadcasts.
The move bumps the elder JARRIN's longtime partner PEPE YNIGUEZ to the TV side to call play-by-play on SPORTSNET LA Spanish game coverage alongside former DODGER greats FERNANDO VALENZUELA and MANNY MOTA. The regional cable network, operated by TIME WARNER, will double the number of Spanish-language TV broadcasts it offers, with 150 games to be aired this season.
