ALPHA MEDIA Classic HIts WGHL (THE NEW 105.1)/LOUISVILLE is now OLD SCHOOL 105.1, featuring Throwback Hip-Hop with a playlist that includes the likes of TUPAC, NOTORIOUS B.I.G., RUN DMC, MISSY ELLIOTT and BUSTA RHYMES.
ALPHA MEDIA now owns the three major Urbans in the market, including Urban WGZB-F (B96.5) and Urban AC WMJM-F (MAGIC 101.3).
“In the past year, the Classic Hip-Hop format has emerged throughout the country as the hottest new radio format because it targets a well-educated, high-income audience of 25-54 year olds who grew up listening to this genre," ALPHA MEDIA LOUISVILLE SVP/Marketing Manager DALE SCHAEFER said. "We are thrilled to be able to fill this music void in the LOUISVILLE market so that advertisers can effectively reach this desirable group of listeners in our community.”
“LOUISVILLE has such a strong Hip-Hop history, STATIC MAJOR and the like, that we at ALPHA MEDIA are honored to develop a station that will be home to nothing but Throwback Hip-Hop,” added OM GEORGE LINDSEY.
“I’m very excited for the opportunity to provide the LOUISVILLE market a music choice that has been missing," Dir./Urban Programming PHILLIP DAVID MARCH said. "An entire generation has grown up with Hip-Hop and it now has a place on the dial where they can hear their favorite Throwback Hip-Hop on OLD SCHOOL 105.1!”
