February 2, 2015 at 1:20 PM (PT)
Over half the listeners to mobile audio are using their ear buds for "owned music," according to a survey by EDISON RESEARCH. The "Share of Ear (SM)" also found that while 52% of all music listened to on mobile devices are "owned music," "Internet Only Audio" -- meaning SPOTIFY, PANDORA and RHAPSODY -- accounts for more than a third (35% of total listening).
Streaming AM/FM on your mobile, through the use of apps like iHEARTRADIO, amounts to 7% of total listening, followed by podcasts (4%) and SIRIUSXM (2%).
