Minor league baseball's SYRACUSE CHIEFS have inked a new two-year deal with CUMULUS MEDIA Sports WSKO-A (THE SCORE 1260 AM)/SYRACUSE. The CHIEFS aired last season on THE SCORE after spending the 2013 season with only streaming audio coverage. KEVIN BROWN will return for his fifth season in the booth, his first as lead play-by-play voice after JASON BENETTI's exit last AUGUST for national work on WESTWOOD ONE, and former SALEM RED SOX voice ERIC GALLANTY joins the crew for his first season with the CHIEFS.
CHIEFS GM JASON SMOROL said, "One of our top priorities with the new SYRACUSE CHIEFS last year was returning the team to radio. Our fans called for our games to be on radio, and we teamed up with CUMULUS to make that happen. We loved working with them so much that we've locked them up for the next two years!"
"The CHIEFS and CUMULUS have come together again with a total partnership", SMOROL said, "involving CUMULUS' other stations, 93Q, 95X and 105.9 THE REBEL. We're also excited to have them back on board for $1.00 THURSDAYS and other events at the park! Our partnership with CUMULUS was a huge reason for the success of the CHIEFS last year, and we know we can duplicate that in the years to come."
CUMULUS SYRACUSE VP/Market Manager SHANE BOGARDUS added, "The CHIEFS under JASON's leadership have created a very successful team of innovators and activators to bring a great experience to the ballpark as seen by the wonderful success they had last year. We are honored and excited to be a part of it all and are back on board for many seasons to come."
