The FCC has affirmed a $25,000 fine against PACIFIC EMPIRE RADIO CORPORATION for public file violations at Talk KLBM-A (SUPERTALK 1450) and Classic Rock KUBQ (CLASSIC ROCK 98.7, now Rock ROCK 98.7)/LA GRANDE, OR; Talk KBKR-A (SUPERTALK 1490) and Oldies KKBC-F/BAKER, OR-KRJT/ELGIN, OR (BOOMER RADIO 95.3 AND 105.9). "There is absolutely no merit to PACIFIC EMPIRE’s reiterated argument that the Commission lacks jurisdiction to impose forfeitures against small broadcast licensees," wrote the Enforcement Bureau.
The FCC also upheld its $3,200 fine against CATHOLIC RADIO NETWORK OF LOVELAND, INC. for failure to power down Religion KPIO-A/LOVELAND, CO after sunset. The station argued that its personnel were unaware of the violation and they took prompt action when advised of the problem, but the Commission said that these were not enough to cancel the fine.
