UMG execs, plus a lot of radio and retail execs and plenty of stars all turned out for UMG CEO LUCIAN GRAINGE's third annual pre-GRAMMY showcase this past SATURDAY, (2/7) at the ACE THEATER in LOS ANGELES.
Following a great show opener of IGGY AZALEA (DEF JAM), GRAINGE spoke of there being "no pyrotechnics" referring to on-stage effects, but the music was highly electric with performances by SAM SMITH, new comers TORI KELLY (CAPITOL) and RYN WEAVER (INTERSCOPE).
Country had a nice place in the event with performances by LUKE BRYAN (CAPITOL/NASHVILLE) and MADDIE & TAE (BMLG/DOT).
Then it was a high energy set from FALL OUT BOY (ISLAND/REPUBLIC) followed by THE WEEKND (REPUBLIC), and British star JAMES BAY (REPUBLIC) following by a touching retrospective trailer of REPUBLIC's fallen superstar AMY WINEHOUSE, with a movie about her life and carrer coming for release in late summer.
The afternoon concluded with a terrific set of hits from MAROON 5.
