NORTHERN KENTUCKY UNIVERSITY Triple A WNKU/CINCINNATI has announce the hiring of 25-year radio veteran, SEAN O’MEALY, as the station’s new GM. O’MEALY will move into his new role on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16th, just in time to help kick off the station’s 30th anniversary festivities.
O’MEALY began his career in radio as a mid-day host at WOCM/HAGERSTOWN, MD in 1989. Since then, he’s risen through the ranks as a MD, PD, Sales Manager and GM for stations in MARYLAND, MASSACHUSETTS and PENNSYLVANIA. He has spent the majority of his career leading the charge in the Triple A music format that WNKU has embraced for over 20 years, but this will be his first foray into public radio.
“My desire to be in public radio directly relates to the core of why I love radio and why I chose radio as my lifelong career path some 25 years ago,” said O’MEALY. “Radio should represent something our listeners can’t live without. Fewer commercial stations accomplish this.
“As WNKU gears up to celebrate its 30th anniversary, I’m honored and thrilled to help lead it and its passionate staff into the next 30 years by furthering our community engagement with great music. My family and I are excited to call CINCINNATI and NORTHERN KENTUCKY our new home.”
