Former Chicago Financial Show Host Sentenced In Fraud Case

KATHLEEN NIEW, the attorney and former brokered financial show host on SALEM Talk WIND-A (AM 560 THE ANSWER)/CHICAGO who pleaded guilty to misappropriating over $2 million of a client couple's money, has been sentenced to five years and 10 months in federal prison plus payment of restitution of $2.34 million. The CHICAGO TRIBUNE reports that prosecutors had sought a 10-year sentence for NIEW, who pleaded guilty to 10 federal fraud counts last JUNE without plea bargaining.
NIEW allegedly took $2.3 million invested by JAMAL and LEDA KHOURY into an escrow account for real estate purposes, putting the money into failed mining operations. Her law and insurance licenses were revoked and her show was canceled in MARCH 2013.
