Top 40 BBC RADIO 1 evening host ZANE LOWE is leaving the BBC after 12 years, but the big news is where he's heading: APPLE.
LOWE, a NEW ZEALAND native and one of the U.K.'s most prominent radio personalities with a reputation for breaking new music, has announced that his last show on RADIO 1 will be on MARCH 5th and that he will be moving his family to AMERICA for an as-yet-undefined position with APPLE's music department, which is widely expected to launch a revamped iTUNES MUSIC service incorporating elements from BEATS MUSIC this SUMMER.
FRIDAY and SUNDAY host ANNIE MAC moves into LOWE's evening slot on MARCH 9th, and will continue her FRIDAY night show; her "MUSICAL HOT WATER BOTTLE" SUNDAY evening show will be taken over by PHIL TAGGART, who will also continue hosting THURSDAY evenings.
LOWE said, "I want to thank everyone at RADIO 1 for their support and friendship. The station has allowed me to share incredible music with the country's best music fans. I’ve loved every minute of it. Exciting times lie ahead."
