The brutal weather took its toll on the CUMULUS/WORCESTER cluster YESTERDAY (2/19). FOX-TV/BOSTON reports the three, "radio stations were knocked off the air for several hours after a burst pipe flooded their building and sent people scrambling to safety." The cluster includes Classic Hits WWFX, Hot AC WXLO and Country WORC.
The report notes, "The mishap sent water throughout the building. Ceiling tile and debris crashed into a vacant first-floor storefront. WWFX personality BRUCE PALMER says the crashing sounds were so loud that he heard them in a soundproof studio. Fire officials say the burst pipe was frozen and gave way near the building's top floor."
The WXLO studio is reported to be heavily damaged and may be a total loss, and the other two stations have minor damage.
