February 20, 2015 at 12:52 PM (PT)
The RAB reports that Radio ended Q4 and full year 2014 with revenues comparable to those reported at year-end 2013 and 2012. Total Q4 revenue of $4.6 billion was essentially flat from the previous year, while 2014 revenue of $17.5 billion represented a 1% decline.
Spot revenue dropped 2% in Q4 and 3% for the entire 2014; Network revenue fell 7% in Q4 and 4% for the entire 2014. On the upswing was Digital, rising 18% in Q4 and 16% for the entire year.
"Radio held its own in 2014 with Radio revenue remaining steady despite an economic climate which saw some businesses tightening their spending in Q4 due to reduced consumer confidence," RAB Pres./CEO ERICA FARBER said, adding that "Digital revenue growth indicates that Radio is meeting marketers’ growing commitment to reach consumers via all digital ad channels, and this continued growth confirms Radio’s position as a true marketing partner."
