John Cody Retiring From WBBM-A

CBS RADIO News WBBM-A-WCFS/CHICAGO reporter JOHN CODY is retiring as of MARCH 13th, reports ROBERTFEDER.COM. CODY has been with WBBM since 1967, joining the station as a writer/producer after two years at CITY NEWS BUREAU.
After serving in the military in 1968-70 and reporting for PACIFIC STARS AND STRIPES in VIETNAM, CODY rejoined WBBM, moving up to reporter in 1973. He won a Lifetime Achievement Award from the CHICAGO HEADLINE CLUB in 2013.
In a memo to the staff cited by FEDER, Dir./News and Programming RON SHAPIRO said, “Those of us who joined the station after JOHN -- and that would be every single person here -- owe him a debt of gratitude for helping build WBBM NEWSRADIO into an incredible powerhouse of news and information. We’ve got an amazing group of talented journalists who will keep the tradition alive, but there’s only one JOHN CODY.”
