March 4, 2015 at 3:26 PM (PT)
BRISTOL BROADCASTING Country WXBQ/JOHNSON CITY, TN OM/PD BILL HAGY has set WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1st as his final day with the company, with plans to retire exactly 50 years – to the day – of starting with the company.
HAGY joined ‘XBQ in 1978, overseeing the station’s move to Country; neither has looked back since. In fact, with HAGY at the wheel, WXBQ has notched 81 consecutive #1 books in a row.
HAGY swears it’s no APRIL FOOLS joke and if fact, will stay on in a consulting role after retiring. He’s heading the search for his successor; programming will be handled internally during the hiring process.
