ALL ACCESS is saddened to pass on the news that legendary CUMULUS Country KSCS/DALLAS-FT. WORTH morning host TERRY DORSEY has passed away yesterday (3/7), of what seems to be natural causes.
In an internal memo to CUMULUS/DALLAS staffers, Market Manager DAN BENNETT said, “As you know, TERRY's impact on DALLAS radio was huge and he was a great friend to all of us and one of radio's great performers.”
After a decade in Top 40, DORSEY began his career in Country radio at WONE/DAYTON, OH in 1977. He moved to DALLAS in 1982, first joining Country KPLX in mornings; eventually crossing the street for wakeups at Country rival KSCS, where he remained until his retirement in DECEMBER (NET NEWS 12/09/14). His career in radio totaled 50 years, 33 of which were spent in DALLAS, 26 at KSCS.
DORSEY was honored with the CMA Personality of the Year Award in 1986 and was a 2006 inductee into the Country Radio Hall of Fame.
DORSEY and his family had moved to ILLINOIS following his retirement last year.
More details, soon.
