Alcohoot To Offer Uber Rides Home At SXSW
March 11, 2015 at 6:30 AM (PT)
Smartphone breathalyzer maker ALCOHOOT INC. will partner with UBER to offer SXSW attendees in AUSTIN vouchers for a $20 credit towards a safe ride home.
The announcement comes after last year's tragedy, in which would-be rapper RASHAD CHARJUAN OWEN crashed his car through a barricade and into a crowd of concertgoers with a blood alcohol level above the state limit (NET NEWS, 12/22/14)
From MARCH 13th-15th during the FESTIVAL, ALCOHOOT "ambassadors" in "ALCOHOOT Blue" will be standing outside of SXSW night events to offer attendees the opportunity to use ALCOHOOT before they get behind the wheel. If an individual blows over a certain BAC level, he or she will be handed an UBER voucher worth $20 towards a safe ride home.
"We are thrilled to offer this program and add true value to SXSW," says ALCOHOOT CEO CHRIS AYALA. "We are always looking for ways for our users to make safe, smart and responsible decisions when it comes to drinking. By partnering with SXSW we are not only showing people their BAC by testing them with our ALCOHOOT device but also offering them an alternative to driving home through the distribution of UBER vouchers."
New UBER users can enter the code ALCOHOOTSX15 through MARCH 22nd to get $20 off their free ride home.
