JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP Top 40 Rhythmic WKHT (HOT 104.5)/KNOXVILLE took home a "BEST OF RADIO' AMERICAN ADVERTISING AWARD at the recent 50th annual ceremony held in its home city.
The honor was presented for HOT 104.5's "No Prize Left Behind" weekend promotion, which gave away leftover prizes on THANKSGIVING weekend that listeners never picked up over the course of the year. The spot parodied the AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS spots featuring singer/songwriter SARAH McLAUGHLIN, only the spot featured abandoned prizes instead of pets. JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP front desk receptionist LaVONDA FRENCH voiced the spot, as she is the first person people see when coming to pick up prizes. The spot scored a Gold ADDY award in addition to the BEST OF RADIO award.
JOURNAL BROADCAST GROUP won three additional Bronze ADDY awards for Country WCYQ (Q100.3)'s WINNONA the Cash Cow, App Promo, and a campaign for its client “Just JEEPS and More.”
“We are so proud of this award, not only because it's from our peers in the industry, but because it represents the wild, unpredictable fun that we have every day at HOT 104.5! We couldn't be happier!” said WKHT PD JOEY TACK.
