HUBBARD BROADCASTING News WTOP/WASHINGTON, D.C. PD LAURIE CANTILLO has left the station, DCRTV reports. In a staff memo, SVP/GM JOEL OXLEY wrote,"The decision has been made to not renew LAURIE CANTILLO's contract ... This decision was reached mutually by LAURIE and me."
In her own staff memo, CANTILLO wrote, "This the right time for me to pursue my next adventure ... My immediate plan is to co-create a screenplay ... and finally get around to writing that next best seller. Radio and digital media innovation will continue to be a big part of my life, so stay tuned."
Back at the station, OXLEY has designated MITCHELL MILLER, MIKE MCMEARTY and DARCI MARCHESE to share oversight duties. "My goal is to spend a lot of time talking to all of you in the TOP newsroom to help determine our needs and how to best solve them," he noted in his memo.
